transatlanticists

cross the pond with confidence

Our Mission

Moving to a new country is always an exciting adventure, but there’s so much to consider when it comes to a transatlantic move. Whether it’s getting a visa, shipping your belongings, or getting settled in your new surroundings, it can get pretty overwhelming quite quickly.

But the challenge goes beyond mere logistics. Despite our shared language, historical connections, and the so-called ‘special relationship’, many Brits in America find themselves unprepared for life in their new home. Whether you want to call it culture shock, homesickness, or a general sense of not quite fitting in, the American Dream can sometimes feel like anything but.

How We Can Help

As Brits who have gone through the process of moving to the U.S. ourselves, we’re dedicated to building a supportive and empathetic community of transatlanticists. Ultimately, we want to help you understand America—and maybe even yourself—a bit better, so that you can thrive in the U.S.

Whether you’ve already made the move, you’re looking to make one happen, or even if you’re pondering a return to the UK, we’re here to connect you with like-minded people, provide you with valuable information from trusted experts, and help you cross the pond with confidence.

Our Trusted Partners

We’ve teamed up with some fantastic British companies dedicated to making a transatlantic move as smooth as possible. There’s a lot of dodgy information and half-truths online, so we want to make sure you’re getting information you can trust, from people who know what they’re doing.

Interested in partnering with us and sharing your expertise with our community? Drop us an email at partnerships@transatlanticists.com and we’ll get back to you with more information.

Our Founder

Hi! I’m Oli Ward, founder of transatlanticists. I started this project to help out other Brits who are interested in moving to the U.S. or currently navigating life across the pond.

I’m also a U.S. immigration lawyer, but (disclaimer!) this isn’t my law firm, and nothing on this website should be considered legal advice—or any other kind of professional advice, for that matter. But I can always put you in touch with people who can help! Feel free to email me any time.
